Spruce

Walnut tone gives spruce decking a rich, premium look inspired by exotic hardwood. Its deep pigment helps protect against UV fading while masking natural knots and resin marks. The warm brown tone creates an elegant, timeless finish for any outdoor terrace.

Spruce decking is factory-oiled on all sides for enhanced protection. As a naturally soft wood used in a demanding horizontal application, regular care helps maintain its appearance and long-term performance.

Expected Lifespan – Approx. 15–20+ years with proper installation, drainage, ventilation, and regular maintenance.
Annual Inspection – Check every spring for colour fading, dryness, hairline cracks, resin, loose fixings, and board movement. Pay extra attention to exposed and high-traffic areas.
Cleaning – Sweep regularly to remove sand, leaves, and debris. Clean with low-pressure water and a soft brush. Never pressure wash or use aggressive cleaners, as they can damage the brushed surface and protective oil finish.
Re-Oiling – Once a year, preferably in spring. High-traffic or fully exposed areas may require local touch-ups when visibly dry or faded.
Application – Clean thoroughly and allow to dry for 24–48 h. Apply one thin, even coat of matching pigmented decking oil along the grain, in the shade. Remove excess oil according to the oil manufacturer’s instructions and keep dry for at least 24 h.
Cut Ends – Oil all freshly cut ends, notches and drill holes during installation to reduce moisture absorption, splitting and local movement.
Drainage & Ventilation – Maintain proper board spacing, drainage and airflow beneath the deck. Avoid direct ground contact, standing water and prolonged moisture.
Fixings – Use high-quality A2 or A4 stainless-steel decking screws and periodically check for loose fixings.
Surface Wear – Minor scratches, dents, and scuffs are natural for spruce. Clean and touch up damaged areas with matching pigmented oil when required.

Smooth & Barefoot-Friendly – Charring and brushing remove loose surface fibres and create a smooth, refined texture with reduced splintering – a major advantage for terraces used barefoot.
Deep Brushed Texture – The softer structure of spruce allows deeper brushing, creating a pronounced three-dimensional grain. Natural knots and variation give every board its own character.
Fresh Colour Every Season – Annual oiling, ideally each spring, refreshes the rich colour and protects the surface from intensive sun, rain and everyday terrace use.
Excellent Value – Spruce delivers a distinctive charred finish, comfortable surface and premium natural appearance at a more accessible price. It is softer than larch, so marks can appear more easily, but regular maintenance keeps the terrace looking its best.
